Project AIM Is the US Coast Guard
"Academy Introduction Mission."
Project AIM is a competitive program for High School Juniors interested in investigating a career as an officer in the US Coast Guard. Selected students experience academy life for one week during the summer between their junior and senior years of high school. During that week they gain first hand experience regarding what life at the Coast Guard Academy in New London, Connecticut is like for a first-year student.
This is a "Try it before you buy it" introduction to life at the Academy. A few details:
• Applications are due in mid-March.
• Qualified applicants appear before a selection board in mid-April.
• AIM week is held the end of July or first week in August.
• Approximately 240 students from across the country will be selected.
This is an outstanding opportunity for Juniors who might be interested in the Academy and a nautical career as a commissioned officer in the United States Coast Guard. AIM participants live the routine of new cadets, from reveille to taps, experiencing many of the exciting activities of Coast Guard Academy freshman.
